People in our world tend to be one of two ways. We tend to be full of hope, or in the opposite extreme, we are full of a feeling of hopelessness. Such is the case for the family of Lazarus at his passing. Lazarus and his sisters, Mary and Martha, are dear friends of Jesus. The account of Lazarus’ death and resurrection is recorded in John 11:1-44.
Jesus came to give hope to a hopeless world! The work of Christ in this one event shows us a few things. We may have doubts, fear, and feel hopeless at times, but Jesus is the resurrection, the truth, and the life. When we put our trust in him we can have endless hope even in this hopeless world.
Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:5-7
