We must learn that true hope comes from God alone. A hope that will last and is found in the arms of the Lord where we can find rest for our souls.
This is the case for a young man who made the fateful choice to ask for his inheritance and leave his father’s home to find his own way in the world. In one way or another, we can all relate to the story of the prodigal son.
When it seems all hope is lost, this story illustrates that we can humble ourselves and come back to the one security that is always available to us, our Father in Heaven. Our hopelessness must motivate us into action to return to Him.
Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. – Romans 5:2-5 (ESV)
