God was very clear in the days the law was given what we should and should not partake in. Sadly, so often today we justify our own actions and make excuses for what we do and what we are engaged in. It’s not okay to do as the famous bumper sticker says and simply “coexist”.
When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. – Deuteronomy 18:9-12
Horoscopes and astrology, mixing religions like Buddhism and Hinduism into Christianity, paganism and mother earth worship, reiki massage, yoga, witchcraft of any kind including the “harmless” Harry Potter books, all are against God’s Law. Drug use also falls into this category that is referred to as sorcery in Micah 5:12.
Why should we reject what is known as the occult?
…for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God, for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this. – Deuteronomy 18:12-14
The Lord does not take these occult and pagan “new age” practices lightly. It is consorting with the powers of darkness and should always be rejected by true believers in Jesus Christ!
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:8-9
Isn’t it time to put your faith in the only one who save, Jesus Christ?
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. – John 14:6
