In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. – John 1:1-5
The Word is the Light of the World – The Truth! Without Him, we live in darkness for without him there is no light or life. In the beginning, there was darkness and God spoke light into existence. He is the light of life to men and yet his own received him not.
And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you, when your enemies will set up a barricade around you and surround you and hem you in on every side and tear you down to the ground, you and your children within you. And they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” – Luke 19:41-44
His tears were not for his own fate but for the people of Jerusalem, his chosen people. Do we weep for the lost?
