“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” – John 14:1-7 (ESV)
Jesus Is…
The Way
We live in a world that wants to point to many different paths that end in the same destination. Jesus is making it clear that this is not the case. There is one way to the Father, one way to eternal life with God, and that is through Jesus.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. – Matthew 7:13 (ESV)
The Truth
An overabundance of information has led to an unclear perception of truth. Jesus is truth, and he is the truth in any matter under consideration.
“The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” – John 1:17 (ESV)
The Life
We want to know the meaning, the purpose, the why, of life. Here Jesus makes it clear, He is life!
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he
die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you
believe this?” – John 11:25-26 (ESV)
This is one of the great paradoxes of Christianity. For us to find life, we have to be willing to pick up our cross, to die to self, to live.
Jesus is our Prophet, Priest, and King!
– Prophet – The Truth – Word Made Flesh
– Priest – The Way – Sacrifice for our sins; Mediator
– King – The Life – King of Kings, Giver of Life
Do you believe this?
